Olympic champion about the abolition of pensions in Russia: “How can this be left without the support of the state in old age?”
Soviet biathlonist, two-time Olympic champion in the relay of 4 x 7.5 km (1984, 1988) Dmitry Vasiliev, who is currently the president of the Biathlon of St. Petersburg, in an interview with Sport24 correspondent, Boris Korolev, appreciated the proposal of the abolition of pensions in Russia. “Tsargrad” entrepreneur Konstantin Malofeev called for the abolition of pensions to Russians born after 1995 to stimulate the birth rate. He noted that in the Russian Empire, pensions paid a limited circle of faces, and every woman gave birth to an average of seven children who “fed their parents in old age.” Vasilyev, who turned 62 last year, expressed confidence that Russia will never be canceled. “Offer with the abolition of pensions is a dubious story. We have a significant number of people work for the state and its development may not in government agencies, but everyone pays taxes one way or another. How then to be left without the support of the state in old age? This is absolutely illogical. I understand that there are states in which there are no pensions. But Russia is a self -sufficient country, and such things should not even be discussed. Any person who works and pays taxes has the right to support in old age. And conversations and proposals for canceling the pension are very strange. It seems to me that this is some kind of self-party to attract attention. This is all stupidity. The oligarch offers that in the future of pensioners children are fed, and imagine that an elderly person does not have children. There are many people who have no one, and husbands or wives passed away. What to do to one old person in this case? Therefore, in this sense, each person must be protected by the state, which is expressed in the payment of pensions. Yes, maybe the pensions are not very large, but still this is such reliable support from the state. Of course, an elderly person can still do some additional work so that the pension, along with the salary, allow a person to live more or less. I am convinced that in Russia they will not cancel pensions. We are a socially oriented state, the main goal of which is the concern for the citizens of our country. The pension is just the concept of protecting its citizens. I’m more sure that this will never happen, ”said Vasiliev.
