RPG “Monark” gets demo on PS4/5 and Nintendo Switch

Every planetary alignment comes up with a JPRG that I'm really excited to play. The last one was Rise of the Third Power is now NIS America with Monark – which received a demo version this week on both PlayStation 4/5 and Nintendo Switch. PC gamers were once again left out.

The demo, which lasts between 30 and 40 minutes on average – a considerable amount of time to understand the plot of what the RPG is all about – provides a great example of one of the systems I'm looking forward to playing it through. Unlike most games in the genre, Monark uses a free movement system. That is, placement is even more important than using hexagons or squares. You can also control an "army" of monsters and take them into battle and there's a whole customization system behind that system.

The story itself, at least in my head, is based on the “let's wait for the final version”. The plot takes place, as usual, in a school that is shrouded in fog. People's egos take possession of their bodies and you are one of the few unaffected. It looks like a complete mess for those who enjoy the style, but at least Monark's aesthetic is more than enough to differentiate it from most JRPGs I've seen lately.

Monark comes out on February 22nd for PlayStation 4/5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
