When the Trust Gxt 867 Acira keyboard came to me, I knew that I had once tested something similar. And I thought well, because a few years ago I had a Genesis Thor 660 keyboard on my desk, which turned out to be a surprisingly successful so -called “sixty”. How is ACira? Similarly. You can see that Trust as a brand has recently pulled up a lot and in my opinion makes better and better products, and the tested keyboard is a perfect example. The only problem is that this is not a keyboard for me.

Trust GXT 867 ACira is a typical sixties

Regardless of which side we look at this keyboard, we can see that this is a typical sixties. The keyboard is maximally compact, where 61 keys in a 10 by 29 centimeters rectangle were packed. No empty spaces, not counting those between the keys. Considering the layout or key size, it is almost identical to the above -mentioned Thor 660 and several other models. But when I write “typical” I meant that he does not stand out from other keyboards of this type. In the more extensive we can find, for example, a knob or a slightly different shape of the housing and buttons. And I do not think that this is something bad, although I am more convinced by a mini keyboard 65% with separate arrow buttons. Here we are simply dealing with something compact, but also a simple, coherent and uncommon.Trust GXT 867 ACiRTRUST GXT 867 ACiRA has a very stiff design, good materials and it's rather hard to stick. It does not creak and does not bend over. It is a mechanical keyboard, so despite the fact that it is small, it weighs its still – exactly 462 grams. The keyboard can be bought only in one color version, i.e. black with gray keys on the sides. I do not know what it will look like after a long time, but after a few weeks of daily patting in the keys I did not notice any traces.We connect the keyboard for a computer (and not only, as below) with a USB-A USB-C cable, which is about one and a half meters. However, he is not a flexibility master and there is no braid, so you can't arrange it on the desk as if I wanted. Yes, you know well, it is not a wireless keyboard, it cannot be connected to a computer or other Bluetooth or radio equipment. Only cable.

To start with – update

Ask yourself – when did you last update the keyboard? Probably most of you will answer “never”, but if you buy Trust Gxt 867 Acira, you will rather have to do it. I had to, on the one hand, a considerable surprise, and on the other, the act required, because otherwise the keyboard would not see the application. It is not difficult, it requires two minutes and a few clicks, and even if someone wondered how to do it, together with the files (downloaded from the official website) the update instructions (in English) are also downloaded. In principle, you need to remember about two things: the right selection of the package with the update to the keyboard system (if we have the so -called small Enter, the keyboard is in the ANSI system) and introducing the keyboard into the update mode (press Windows + ESC by connecting the keyboard). After a long blink of our eyes, we have firmware version 2.0.1, or at least this version was available when I tested and updated the ACira.

Festival of shortcuts and keyboard

Trust GXT 867 ACira is relatively low for a mechanic and slightly inclined towards the user. For me, this setting was optimal, but if someone would like to increase the angle (lift the upper part of the keyboard even higher) it is such a possibility. I missed some of the wrist pad, and this is where the habit to the support, which I use together with Logitech MX Keys. It is a pity that there is nothing similar in a box with ACira.Trust GXT 867 Acraktoś will say that this is not a keyboard created for writing, and I do not intend to claim that it is because … it depends. If someone starts knocking on the keys on such a keyboard for the first time, they will need a long time to gain practice. The keyboard has a normal keys and the right distances between them, so this undoubtedly affects the convenience of writing. In addition, the right alt is in the right place, we have a single -row Enter and long shitfs, so it doesn't strange to bother us. I admit that this keyboard wrote extremely pleasantly, although I did not expect it at all. I assume, however, that it came easier for me, because it was not my first contact with the sixty, but in turn.

The problem arises when we want to do something within the system and we are used to doing some things from the keyboard. Then the abbreviations and keyboard festival begins.

Do you want to delete messages in Thunderbird with the Delete key? Sure, but you have to hold FN and press backspace. Do you want to jump somewhere with arrows? Yes, you can use arrows, but only with the FN implemented. And the best. Do you know how to make a back on such a keyboard? You press FN with Shift, click ESC (because there is only under it) and finally press the space. This is what life looks like with sixty. If I counted well and did it three times, as many as 39 keys have additional functions that we can call with the FN key. This includes not only function keys, but also multimedia, some of the keys from the numeric block, but also the mentioned arrows and keys responsible for volume and backlight. The keyboard is packed to the brim with such combinations, but we have to count on this by choosing this type of model.Trust GXT 867 ACiRTRUST GXT 867 ACIRA is based on linear OUTEM RED switches, to which I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, they are switches used in cheaper keyboards (and this one is rather one) and their work culture deviates from what I would like to get every day. But on the other hand, such a bit raw and “machine” the sound of the keys caused me a strange pleasure of writing and the proof of this should be this review – entirely written on the Acier. In theory, the keyboard with red OUTEM switches is recommended more for playing than writing, because they do not require a lot of pressure (45 g) and have a high activation point of Switch (2 mm). In my case, in the Red Outem games they worked well and confidently, and while writing I did not have the impression that they were too sensitive. The “springing” of switches is also heard, but only when it is written more dynamically and pounds more on the keys.Trust GXT 867 ACIRZKKODA that we will not find spare switches in the set. And if they are missing, there is also nothing to count on slices to pull out the keys and switches. In other words, we only get a cable keyboard in the box.

They did not overdo it with backlight here

This is a gaming keyboard, so RGB backlight must also go hand in hand. And here the color section is very extensive. There are several factory presets that we can switch from the keyboard, but also choose in the software. Everyone should find the effect that suits them best. I prefer one color for all keys (that's why I set the blue) and some calm backlight effect and here is great that we can set the speed of this effect – slow down or accelerate it. There is also a nice light message informing that we have reached the minimum or maximum level, e.g. the intensity of backlight – then the keyboard flashes with white backlight several times.Trust GXT 867 aciraaplication looks like a typical application made for one specific cheap and gaming equipment. You can see that no UX guru did it. The application is because it is and does what to do. I have already written about the backlight configuration. The second issue is extensive macry management, including their export or import to/from the file.

The small size Trust Gxt 867 Acira has its advantages

Due to my long -term keyboard habits and preferences, which concern, among others, the low key profile, wireless connection to the computer and the compulsory numerical block I know that Trust Gxt 867 Acira would not come to my desk for long. In addition, total keyboard use and packing of functions not necessarily special under nearly 40 keys does not make things easier. This is how it is if the priority here is the smallest keyboard size. But such a small keyboard also has its advantages. Sacciously, the keyboard is great for the console, because it can be connected to PS4, PS5 and Xbox consoles. Fact, unfortunately only guides to USB, which will work only when the console is close, e.g. on a desk at the monitor, and not, as is usually the case, a few meters from us, on the “ertyphałka” under the TV. I checked it with Xbox Series S and works, although not all games support keyboard control.Trust GXT 867 aciradruga thing that came to my mind is the use of this keyboard as a service keyboard at work in the field. It works on the cable, which is a plus in this case, because it will work with almost every computer and we will always enter the bios. It is small, so you can throw it into the backpack and take it with you, and it seems solid, so it should survive in more difficult conditions. Trust Gxt 867 ACira is a decent, well -made sixty, with a very configurable backlight and a reasonable price. At the time of publishing the review, it could be pulled out for around PLN 170 and from the official Trust store. You can spend a hundred on such a keyboard, but also get closer to a thousand zlotys, so you can see that the tested Acira belongs to the cheaper ones. However, I still wonder what is guiding people who abandon such a general convenience of using the keyboard and choose sixty, and FN becomes their favorite key. No space? Keys they don't use at all? Maybe. The fact is that maybe a better choice here will be the so-called 75, not much larger, but with separated arrows and function keys in a separate row.
