The Last Kingdom Season 4 Popularity on Netflix
The Last Kingdom season 4 has performed well in Netflix’s top ten metrics since its premiere. The series has done well on the international stage, featuring in a number of top 10 lists, particularly in Germany and France.
While the series never reached the top of the charts in the United Kingdom or the United States, it was only defeated by shows like After Life and Never Have I Ever. In the United States, The Last Kingdom was in the top ten for 19 days, and in the United Kingdom, it was in the top ten for 24 days.
The Last Kingdom season 5 Release Date
Every part of the creation of a series like The Last Kingdom takes an enormously long time, thus we won’t see the fifth season until the end of 2021, possibly even the beginning of 2022. Netflix has added a month or two between seasons since taking over the programme from the BBC and adding two extra episodes. The release of the second and third seasons took a total of 18 months, with an additional 17 months between season three and season four.
Which books will The Last Kingdom Season 5 Cover?
The fourth season of The Last Kingdom continues the practise established in previous seasons, in which each season covers roughly the events of two volumes from The Saxon Stories literature. The events of The Pagan Lord and The Empty Throne were chronicled in Season 4. The series deviates from the novels more and more with each season, however there are still important storey beats that the series continues to follow when researching the plot of the books. Such issues as Uhtred’s age aren’t addressed as thoroughly in the series as they are in the novels, in which Uhtred is over 50 years old by the events of the fourth season.
Alexander Dreymon acknowledged the production team’s issue with an aged Uhtred while speaking with RadioTimes about the upcoming season.
“We’re faced with that problem now, getting into season 5 where Uhtred is technically… I think he starts at 54 and ends up at 60 in the books. That’s a problem right now because how do we make it look like Uhtred has aged without it looking comical? We’re working on it.”
The ninth and tenth novels, Warriors of the Storm and The Flame Bearer, will be covered in the fifth season of The Last Kingdom.
