It was necessary to listen to the Ukrainian? In the history of Russia there were many original and interesting football clubs. But one of them stood out even against a general color background. His name is “Spartak-Chukotka”. The general symbiosis of the red-white community and the polar region existed only three seasons. But over this short time, the club managed to leave a good memory of itself.
They played under the protection of riot police
The history of Spartak Chukotka began in 1998. The founders of the club were the Governor of the Chukchi AO Alexander Nazarov, the legendary coach Oleg Romantsev and another coach Anatoly Shelest. Once they played football under the auspices of the Federation Council, and during the break Nazarov invited Romantsev and Shelest to organize his own team for northern money. Thinking, without thinking twice, agreed. So the Spartak-Chukotka appeared, which received the base … in Moscow. This was two logical explanations. Firstly, the remake was seen as a farm club of the main “Spartak”, where Romantsev steamed. Secondly, the harsh conditions of the Arctic did not allow football players comfortably settled. And how to fly for matches when more than 11 thousand kilometers from Anadyr to Moscow? In 1998, the Chukchi appeared in the third division and became champions in the Moscow zone, and also took bronze on the All -Russian final. This allowed them to become full participants in the second league. Prepared in Cyprus and flew to Chukotka
Since 1999, the Chukchi club with Moscow registration has been in the second league. The patronage of Spartak and the attention of the governor have a beneficial effect on the results of the Chukchi. The team confidently won its zone, having suffered only three defeats in 36 championship matches. In the same year, Chukotka sensationally reached the 1/8 finals of the Russian Cup, where, however, she lost large CSKA-0: 3. There was a cunning plan in this: the Army could think that the Chukotka surrendered in advance, and relax. Compared to other Spartak-Chukotka clubs, lived very badly. The team had stable financing, and the best players were even encouraged by trips … to Anadyr. Also, Alexander Nazarov broke the viewing in a club for Chukotka football players. None of them, of course, began to play at a professional level.
Sergey Metelitsa, Tass Zuokotka Tass, could not see the matches of their team live. So that they at least somehow feel involvement in her, on local television they twisted games in the record. Cassettes with a cherished film went to Anadyr the day after the matches. There is another legend: supposedly on Chukotka they showed only the victories of Spartak – so that the Chukchi would not be upset.
Abramovich did not want to help the team
In 2000, Spartak Chukotka played in the first league. The team was preparing with enthusiasm for her, anticipating the next championship. Dmitry Gunko from Tyumen, ex-armead Alexei Babenko and Brazilian Ed, who played in Alania, were invited. But … The authorities changed on Chukotka – oligarch Roman Abramovich, who had his own species in the territory, became a State Duma deputy from the region. The governor of the district Alexander Nazarov cooled to the football club and stopped engaged in it. Coach Anatoly Shelest hoped to receive support from Abramovich. Only now the businessman did not listen to him. – First, Abramovich was elected to the Duma at the request of Yeltsin. I even flew with him to Chukotka. Campaigned – after all, everyone knew me. Moreover, I am a Ukrainian, and there there are 80% of them – we came to work. At that moment, Roman Arkadyich promised to help. When he became a deputy, I am to him. He replied: “The team is governor. So let the governor turn to me. ” Nazarov had more important things, ”Shelest recalled.

The once promising project died before our eyes. The following match “Chukchi” was held in Chita with a local “locomotive”. By that time, the team did not actually exist: the players scattered where, and even training were carried out not every day. Suddenly, “Rubin” came to the aid of Chukotka. The Kazan club paid for the path to the poor team. Why? The fact is that the refusal of the game in Chita would cancel Spartak all the results in the first round. Rubin, who fought for raising the class, beat the “Chukchi”, but the “torpedo-winter” tied. The loss of three important points was not at all included in the Tatarstan plans – hence the sudden charity. Truth, she did not help. Only 11 football players included the game – they say that two players were found literally on the street. The Chitins defeated the poor fellow with a score of 7: 0, and on this the story of the team ended. In the second circle, Spartak-Chukotka did not play, receiving technical defeats 0: 3.-Abramovich became the governor, but did not show interest in Spartak. He was engaged in hockey in Omsk. And the team died. Because of him, ”Anatoly Shelest was indignant. Surprisingly, but the club did not take the last place. On the line below is the St. Petersburg Lokomotiv, whose affairs were even worse.
What happened then?
The only coach of Spartak-Chukotka, Anatoly Shelest, worked in Latvia and Lithuania, but spent most of his career in Russian lower leagues. Star newcomers in 2000 dispersed where, and only Dmitry Gunko still flashes on the air as the head coach of the Armenian Urartu. Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea and made a superglub of it. Alexander Nazarov worked in the Accounts Chamber, after which he left politics and government. And there was still no project on the Chukotka, which at least somehow reminded the then Spartak. Alas, now it is hardly possible.
