53rd Gramado Festival announces national feature films that compete for Kikito

The 53rd Gramado Film Festival revealed on Tuesday (8/7) Six Brazilian fiction films that will compete in Kikito In 2025. Historical and Cultural Heritage of Rio Grande do Sul, the Gramado Film Festival will be held between 13 and 23 August. The six chosen to compete in the Kikito Award are of fiction, unpublished and will be shown palace of the festivals. The national team was curated by actor and director Caio Blat, actress Camila Morgado and journalist, professor and critic Marcos Sanctuary and will mark the first window of display of the latest titles of Brazilian cinematography.

What motivated the choice?

Commenting on the curatorship of the dispute, Marcos Santario stressed his commitment to plurality, sensitivity and the mission of presenting a portrait of current cinema. “The six films make up a vibrant and necessary sample of narratives that dialogue with the present, without giving up human and aesthetic complexity,” he said. Camila Morgado, who debuts as a curator in 2025, stressed that the choice was not easy. According to her, the intention was to bet on the diversity of themes, languages, territories and genres, prioritizing works that generate reflection. “These are films with copyright brands that cause, sensitize and, above all, represent us,” said the actress. Caio Blat added that, in addition to thematic plurality, the group sought to balance established names with new talents. “I hope the audience is dazzled by the strength of our cinema, with the vigor with which it renews and reaffirms itself,” said the actor.

Brazilian film explores the dilemmas of childhood
