
Movie I'm still here is honored with the Order of Cultural Merit
The identity of a nation is associated with its culture. This is a fact, regardless of the political current that will govern it. And our cultural agents deserve to be revered. And it were, on the night of last Tuesday (20/5), in Rio de Janeiro. The Federal Government – in the figures of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes – contemplated 112 personalities and 14 institutions with the Order of Cultural Merit. The ceremony marked the reopening of Gustavo Capanema Palace, jewel of modern architecture, in the city center. The ceremony also marked the return of the award, which had not happened since 2019, and also crowned the 40 years of creation of the Ministry of Culture. Important representatives of areas such as cinema, theater, literature and music were awarded the honor. Three names of the team I am still here, the first production to give the country the Oscar of foreign film, received the commendation: director Walter Salles, actress Fernanda Torres and Marcelo Rubens Paiva, author of the book that gave rise to the feature. The song was contemplated by honors to big names such as Alaíde Costa, Alcione, Leci Brandão, Moacyr Luz, Chico César, Liniker and Paula Lima. From theater and TV, Zezé Motta and Paulo Betti were also contemplated, as well as filmmakers such as businesswoman Flora Gil and the theatrical producers' association (APTR), represented by her president, Eduardo Barata.
